nordic culture pointWe offer an opportunity to stay in the International Centre for Translators and Writers for Nordic region or Baltic countries residents more easily via Nordic Culture Point. We can offer our friendship, partnership and activities together.
There are two ways to do it:
Mobility funding

If you are an artist or other professional in the field of arts and culture (such as curators, producers, literary translators, cultural editors or researchers) you can apply for funding.
The Mobility funding provides applicants an individual access to contacts, skills and knowledge from different parts of the region. Funding may also be used to present artistic and cultural outputs and to increase interest in Nordic and Baltic art and culture.

  • Guidelines of the Nordic-Baltic Mobility and Network Programme for Public Administration

The Nordic-Baltic Mobility and Network Programme for Public Administration gives financial support to civil servants and other staff with similar functions from the Nordic and Baltic countries to carry out study visits, internships, or network activities in Baltic or Nordic countries, as appropriate.

Eligible forms of activity:

  • Study visits (number of participants of group study visits per project 2-8 persons)
  • Internships
  • Network activity, such as seminars and workshops with the aim to strengthen cooperation within the priority areas of the programme
  • Online meetings for exchange of knowledge and experiences.

About International Centre for Translators and Writers

The centre provides extraordinary short-term and long-term accommodation for the national and foreign writers. We offer to foster and expand international cultural experience, to improve communication skills, to prepare presentations of their creative works to the literary communities of this foreign country, to share experiences and to participate in various creative workshops, conferences and seminars. We own two houses, which offer nine rooms with all conveniences, computers and internet access . One house contains a shared-use facility for group activities and cooking. The provision of accommodation and the implementation of project activities are carried out in accordance with the Ministry of Health of The Republic of Lithuania guidelines and recommendations for the management of COVID19 in force at that time.

Additional information:

To ensure the safety of guests and staff, check-in is done remotely and accommodation is by prior arrangement only;

Payment for the Centre's services can be made only by bank cards or bank transfer;

For the convenience and safety of guests, an automated door unlocking system has been installed, which allows guests to check-in and access rooms without direct contact;

We recommend booking additional services (bicycles, etc.) in advance by the indicated contacts (by phone, e-mail);

In the common area, please avoid close contact with people, i.e. no more than 2 persons at the time (except members of the same family). Personal hygiene standards must be observed: hand hygiene, coughing, sneezing etiquette, etc.;

Additional attention is paid to cleaning and disinfection of the premises. Also, the Center provides an opportunity for proper hygiene and/or disinfection of guests' hands: at the entrance, in a clearly visible place, sanitizer for hand disinfection is placed, in the rooms - antibacterial soap;

Until 31 of May, 2020, at the International Center of Translators and Writers, events, trainings, meetings are possible only in open spaces (courtyard), when no more than 30 participants in the event and at least 10 sq. m area per person and a distance of at least 2 meters between them.

All guests and project participants are asked to respect each other, protect themselves, their relatives, other guests and staff of the Center, as well as to follow additional information and follow Ministry of Health instructions and recommendations.

At the beginning of this year, a team of staff from the Klaipėda County Public I. Simonaityte Library and its department, International Center for Translators and Writers, submitted a project for the Nordic Council of Ministers Cultural Mobility Program which is intended to support art residencies, to receive grant. The project application was selected by the commission and given 100% funding. The implementation period of the project, called „Artist Residencies“, will be held from 2020. September 1 until 2021 October 3d.
During the „Artist Residencies“ project, there will be accepted two professional writers and translators from other Nordic and Baltic countries. The International Center of Translators and Writers will provide them with the right conditions for focused, undisturbed and comfortable work and living. Also, meetings with other artists and representatives of the cultural field will be organized, project working group will be helping to establish contact with the art and cultural community in Neringa and Klaipėda.
This project will contribute to one of the goals of the ICTW – to increase international visibility. It is also important that the granted project allows to identify future development trends of residencies and provides an opportunity for international cooperation between artists residencies and similar organizations.

Klaipeda County Public I. Simonaityte Library

rasymasThe International Center of Translators and Writers, established in 2018 in Neringa, soon became a favorite place for artists. With the growing popularity of the Center, as many as 22 writers and translators and 7 representatives of other fields of art lived and worked here in 2019. This place was chosen for their creative projects not only by Lithuanian, but also by artists from Germany, Poland, Israel, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Estonia and other countries. Being in demand internationally only shows how important artist residencies really are.
The Center, which has opened its doors in a unique area, is the only institution of its kind in Lithuania. Developers can stay at 9, in 2018 completely renovated and constantly updated rooms with all amenities, internet connection and computers. The Center also has a common space for events, conferences, seminars, workshops and other activities.
Due to the extraordinary situation in Lithuania and in the world, the International Center of Translators and Writers suspended its activities. However, there is no doubt that the popularity of this creative residence will only grow, as the International Center of Translators and Writers is a place where it is good to create and comfortable to live.

Klaipėda County Public I. Simonaitytė Library

On 17th – 31st of July in 2018 activities of Klaipeda County I. Simonaityte Public Library residential project “Simonaityte speaks in Polish” started in The International Centre of Translators and Writers in Nida with 6 participants: Agnieszka Rembialkovska and Mirijana Kozak, lecturers of the Baltic science Department of the University of Warsaw, and their students, whose worked on translating the fragments of I. Simonaityte book "Ne ta pastogė" in Polish. All translated texts will be posted on the International Center of Translators and Writers website at and on Library website Also translators had trainings – seminars on topics "Klaipeda Region Writers" and “Cultural Contexts of I. Simonaityte” conducted by lecturers N. Kepenienė and M. Šidlauskas. Also, the translators participated in cultural events in Klaipeda and Nida, communicated with representatives of the local community, got acquainted with the culture of Klaipeda region and took knowledge and experience. Participants of the project “Simonaityte speaks in Polish” participated in the opening of the bench for Ieva Simonaityte in the inner courtyard of Klaipeda County I. Simonaityte Public Library, in the poetry evening of the poet Daiva Molyte – Lukauskiene, and also at the Classical Music Concert of Milda Deltuvaite and Augustina Vaiginyte at the Lutheran Church in Nida. The project is funded by the Lithuanian Culture Council.
