During the Prozos krantas Literature Festival, an international workshop for young people’s creativity and translations from Latvian and Estonian took place at the International Translators and Writers Centre in Nida. The residency was attended by the young generation of Lithuanian writers and translators, Linas Daug\u0117la and Agn\u0117 Bernotait\u0117, as well as writers Helena Aadli from Estonia and Emija Grigorjeva from Latvia. The workshop was organised by Dominykas Matulionis.<\/p>\n
During the residency, the artists not only deepened their work, but also collaborated, translated each other’s texts and strengthened their ties with the local community. The initiative has become a space not only for intensive work but also for intercultural dialogue and creative friendship.<\/p>\n
This year, the International Centre for Translators and Writers’ Residency for the younger generation of creators started as a pilot project for a workshop on creation and translation. The authors participating in this residency not only shared their work, but also actively discussed the uniqueness of the younger generation’s literature in the Baltic context.<\/p>\n
The cooperation is mutual: the Estonians publish works by Lithuanian authors in their own publications, and the Lithuanians share Estonian texts. This exchange of work not only strengthens cultural links but also promotes a dynamic literary dialogue. The collaboration started during a visit to Tallinn, where the young artists met Latvian and Estonian artists. Once these contacts were established, it was decided to continue the initiative by involving foreign authors and inviting them to participate in residencies in Lithuania. These activities have become an integral part of the Prose Coast festival, strengthening cooperation between young authors and their colleagues from other Baltic countries.<\/p>\n
Cooperation between young writers and translators enriches the region’s literary scene and helps to build lasting ties that strengthen the cultural identity of the Baltic States. Such a project has the potential to become an important platform for cultural exchanges that go beyond national boundaries. The International Centre for Translators and Writers is happy to provide a space for these processes to take place. As well as fostering creativity and cooperation, these activities contribute to the development of translation and cultural dialogue between countries. In the future, the residency programme will be expanded to include more foreign authors and projects in other countries. It is hoped that these steps will open up new opportunities for Baltic literature and enrich the creative horizon of the region.<\/p>\n
Prozos krantas will continue to promote the exchange of creativity and the discovery of young talents, contributing to the strengthening of the region’s literary identity both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n
