I had the wonderful privilege of watching Spring arrive to Nida in March and April. My stay at TVRC German style house was comfortable in every way. The Center’s location is brilliant – very close to the gorgeous lagoon and the heart of the town, but still far enough to enjoy peace and silence for creative work and a good rest. Everything I needed was a short walk away, TVRC’s staff was always very responsive and helpful as soon as I asked for anything. I will definitely come back to this unique safe haven as soon as I can. Ačiu labai for taking such good care of me!

I‘ve spent a quarter of June at ICTW. I had the opportunity to work in extraordinary conditions, yet recreation prevailed. There is a beautiful nature, Curonian spit and the Baltic sea with its coastline, and other beautiful places you’d like to visit, sadly there was not enough time; especially during the fishing season when one can go fishing either at lagoon or the sea. I will not boast about the catch, probably you won‘t believe in my success… Anyways, we‘ve had flounders for dinner for a few days. Clean rooms and carefully maintained premises have left a great impression. I would like to express sincere gratitude for ICTW workers Brigita and Rugilė.

The ICTW, with its cultural purpose, is becoming an integral part of the city of Neringa, enriching its phenomenon. Translators, writers and poets find an inspiring atmosphere for their creative work while residing there. Undoubtedly, the sincerity and diligence of the staff of the centre contribute greatly to an undefiled and balanced frame of mind. My big ‘thank you’ for the opportunity to reside and create there.

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to my supervisor Nijolė Maskaliūnienė, the whole Department of Translation and Interpretation Studies at Vilnius University, Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library and the International Centre for Translators and Writers for the exceptional opportunity to have two weeks spent in this soothing and inspiring residence in Nida. This is a welcoming place in marvellous settings, with the ambience of home moved to the forest between the Mare and the Sea.

The International Centre of Translators and Writers is located in our beautiful Nida, in a rather convenient place: the Curonian Lagoon is right there, and nearby, on the hill, stands the house of Thomas Mann. The sea is a bit further away but it’s nice to reach it, taking a path through the woods. We lived in the new house of the ICTW, in Room 206. There is plenty of space and a fully equipped kitchenette there, and you can work on the Centre’s computer at the desk, while the environment of Nida will definitely promote a working mood. There is a promenade along the Curonian Lagoon, where you can walk or run. You can communicate with other residents or staff of the Centre as much as you choose. It is a place where you really can relax and do some work.
