Thoughts and photo haigu by poet and photographer Dainius Dirgela

2024-07-02

At the International Centre for Translators and Writers in Nida until 2024 Dainius Dirgėla, poet and photographer, is a participant of the Individual Creative Residency project.

“I am Dainius Dirgėla, a poet and photographer. I send my greetings to all of you, wearing my winter clothes and standing under the flowering plum tree of Nida, whose blossoms and scents are perhaps even more spectacular than those of the Japanese sakura. The wintry breath of the north wind and Curonian Spit nature’s timid attempt to adorn itself with spring flowers are the hallmarks of this unpredictable spring. Two waters, wind, sun, sand, large spaces and the peace of the off-season, I hope the residency will give me another poem for a poetry book someday. I will also photograph Neringa and write trills, combining the photographic images and trills into photohaiku (photo + haiku), extending into 2023. NIDA’S PHOTO RINGS, a series of photo-events launched in April during the TVRC residency. I’m sharing some of the photos I’ve just taken here in Nida.”
