24 April A creative meeting with the winner of the Neringa Scholarship – poet, photographer Dainius Dirgėla, organised by the International Translators and Writers Centre (TVRC), took place at the Neringa Municipality Viktoras Miliūnas Public Library. It was an exceptional opportunity for the local community to get closer acquainted with the artist’s work, born during his residency in Neringa.
During the event, the author presented an original synthesis of haiku and photography – a series of photostrips “Neringa photostrips”, inspired by the cyclical nature of the seaside landscape and nature. Dainius Dirgėla shared his creative experiences, revealed the methods and challenges of haiku and photo haiku creation, read his poetry and invited the audience to look at everyday life through the prism of minimalist aesthetics.
The event was moderated and the poet was interviewed by Brigita Dereškaitė, Senior Methodologist at the TVRC, who in her conversation with the artist also revealed the wider context of the residency programme – how these experiences enable artists to create, reflect and share their work with different communities.
The aim of the Neringa Writer’s Scholarship is to encourage writers to create in Neringa, to develop cognitive-cultural exchanges, to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation between the Neringa Municipality and the International Centre for Translators and Writers, a branch of the Ievos Simonaitytė Public Library of Klaipėda County.
