Call for applications for Individual Creative Residencies

The International Centre for Translators and Writers’ Individual Creative Residencies are an opportunity to live and work in the midst of a unique natural environment, amongst the boundless dunes and waters. We provide not only favourable living and working conditions, but also opportunities to foster and expand international cultural experience, to organise presentations of your work, and to share experiences. The International Centre for Translators and Writers is the ideal place to stay for all those who seek peace and quiet, a place to create, a place to relax and escape the daily routine.

Duration of residencies

Creative individual residencies can last from 10 calendar days to 3 months, choosing a period during the cold season (1 November – 30 April).

Living and working conditions

The International Centre for Translators and Writers is located in the Curonian Spit, in the village of Nida. The Curonian Spit is a unique peninsula of sand dunes, an exceptional creation of man and nature – in year 2000 inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural landscape object. ICTW is located 1,600 meters from the Baltic Sea on one side and 500 meters from the Curonian Lagoon on the other.

ICTW’s artists-in-residence can stay in one of two houses – the old Fisherman’s House, a listed building, or the new German-style house. The house is equipped with rooms with all amenities, internet connection and computers. Residents have free access to a self-service laundry service. The Fisherman’s House has a common room for group activities and cooking meals.

Price

For an individual creative residency, a 40% discount on the total price of accommodation in the room of your choice (TVRC’s price list for paid services).

Submission of applications

Documents must be submitted in Lithuanian or English. Applications are accepted throughout the year. All documents are sent as a single PDF document. The total size of the document cannot exceed 15 MB. The subject line of the email should read “Name TVRC Individual Creative Residency Application“. Documents are sent by e-mail. info@tvrc.lt.

You must include in the PDF document:

– Application form (download)
– Curriculum Vitae (1-2 pages)
– Portfolio (up to 3 works or creative projects)
– Description, concept or plan of the creative programme to be implemented during the residency (up to 2 pages)

Evaluation of applications

Applications are accepted throughout the year and evaluated on an ongoing basis. A panel of experts will evaluate the applications submitted. A decision is taken within 15 working days. Candidates will be informed of the applications received and the results by e-mail. by mail.
