Participants of the International Festival “Inculturation” on 3 October met Oliver Fischer, writer, journalist and one of the vice-presidents of the Thomas Mann Society.
During the event, the writer presented his book “Man kann die Liebe nicht stärker erleben – Thomas Mann und Paul Ehrenberg” (“Love cannot be experienced more strongly – Thomas Mann and Paul Ehrenberg”). Participants had the unique opportunity to listen to the author read excerpts from the book in the original language and follow the translation at the same time, a format that allowed them to get a deeper sense of the atmosphere of the story and the uniqueness of the author’s language.
After the reading, the conversation with the author was moderated by the German historian Prof. Dr. Ruth Leiserowitz, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Baltic Region of the University of Klaipėda, who talked about Thomas Mann’s special relationship with the painter Paul Ehrenberg.
