Creative bibliotherapy workshop in Nida: anxiety management and therapy methods

On 21-23 March, the International Centre of Translators and Writers hosted a seminar “Cognitive Methods of Anxiety Management and Bibliotherapy” organised by the Lithuanian Bibliotherapy Association. The interactive workshop was led by guest lecturer, psychologist Dalius Kurlinkas.

During the seminar, participants explored anxiety coping strategies based on the principles of cognitive therapy and discussed the potential of bibliotherapy in various fields. Particular attention was paid to the impact of bibliotherapy on prisoners – librarian Lina Dubauskienė shared her experience in this area.

Daiva Janavičienė from the National Martynas Mažvydas Library presented the popularity of bibliotherapy methods in readers’ clubs and their benefits. The participants also discussed the links between puppet therapy and bibliotherapy, recalling Puppeteers’ and International Poetry Days.

During the seminar programme, the participants visited the Neringa Viktoras Miliūnas Public Library and the Thomas Mann Museum.
