On the evening of October 2nd, the VIII International Nida Forum continued in Klaipėda. In the middle of the International Festival “Inkultūracija”, the audience had a special opportunity to listen to a conversation between Dr. Teodoras Žukas and the writer, poet, translator of Thomas Mann’s works Antanas Gailius, “Why Thomas Mann?”.
During the conversation, Dr. Teodoras Žukas, Director of the European Right Institute, interviewed Antanas Gailius about the translations of Thomas Mann’s books, the challenges he has experienced, the planned translations of his works, and the importance of Thomas Mann in the context of Lithuanian literature. The translator shared his insights on what makes Thomas Mann’s work special and how it is valuable for each of us.
