The International Centre for Translators and Writers invites you to the International Thomas Mann Festival!
From 12 to 19 July, Nida will host the International Thomas Mann Festival – a week of music, words, art and cinema that brings together culture lovers from all over Lithuania and abroad. This year’s theme is “Time out of balance. Faith” – invites you to reflect on the interactions between culture, faith and time in today’s world.
It is one of the most important summer cultural events in the Curonian Spit, renowned for its high-level musical programme, literary and philosophical talks, visual arts and open-air film screenings.
The festival events will take place in various spaces in Nida: the Thomas Mann Summer House, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Nida, the Virginija and Kazimieras Mizgiri Gallery, the Nida Art Colony of the Academy of Fine Arts of Latvia, and the Curonian Spit History Museum. Cinema evenings, featuring films by renowned Lithuanian and foreign directors, attract special attention.
The festival will open with a concert in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Nida. Throughout the week, visitors will have meetings with writers, artists, philosophers and musicians, thematic excursions, discussions, concerts and film nights.
The music programme will feature performances by the most prominent Lithuanian and international artists, as well as premieres of new works.
The events will be held in Lithuanian and German. Most of them are free, but some may require registration or tickets.
