The third winner of the Nordic Council of Ministers-funded Artist Residencies project, Tilo Eckard, is a writer-in-residence at the International Centre for Translators and Writers .

Tilo grew up and went to school near Cologne and has worked in publishing for most of his life. Before moving to Chicago as a literary agent, he worked as an editor at Haffmans Verlag in Zurich and Switzerland. Tilo has been editing the works of Erich Kästner since 2017. was a publisher at Heyne Verlag in Munich until he decided to become a writer. His first bestseller, The Italian Farewell (under the pseudonym Andrea Bonetto), was published in 2023 and his second novel, Azzurro Mortale, will be published in spring 2024. During his residency in Nida, he will complete a novel about Thomas Mann’s first summer in Nida in 1930, to be published in autumn 2024 under the title “Gefährliche Betrachtungen” (Dangerous Reflections).

The successful development of the Artist Residencies project contributes to multilateral cultural and cognitive exchanges, and provides an opportunity for international cooperation between artists and their residency organisations.
